Navy Women's Tennis Concludes Play at Old Dominion Invitational

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- The Navy women's tennis team concluded play on Sunday in the Old Dominion Invitational. The Mids had one member playing in the championship round on Sunday, while the remainder of the team competed in the consolation brackets.

Navy's lone representative in the championship bracket came from Erin Snook (Fr. / Tampa, Fla.) in the Flight B2 semifinals. Snook fell one match short of reaching the finals, when she dropped a 6-3, 6-1, decision to Delaware's Samantha Carnall.

Meanwhile, Navy had success in the consolation rounds, where each player competed in one match on the afternoon. Navy won a total of six matches in the consolation rounds.

In Flight A1, Amanda Griffin (Sr. / Roseville, Calif.) defeated Joyanna Sangria of Hampton, 8-4.

Stefanie Ton (So. / Milpitas, Calif.) won her consolation match in Flight A2, topping NJIT's Nina Mayevska, 8-1.

In flight C1, Dye Das (So. / Cherry Hill, N.J.) knocked off NJIT's Martina Tripcovici, 8-2.

Natalie Houle (So. / The Woodlands, Texas) breezed past Morgan State's Tiffany Hughes in the Flight C2 consolation round, 8-0.

Navy won a pair of matches in the Flight D2 consolation round, coming by a pair of freshmen against Norfolk State opponents. Haley Adams (Woodstock, Ga.) defeated Maryna Kariuk, 8-5, while Julia Zook (Seattle, Wash.) knocked off Ashley Foster, 8-2.

Navy will be back in action next Friday-Sunday, when it hosts the Navy Blue and Gold Invitational.
