HANOVER, N.H. - The seventh-ranked Dartmouth squash team handed No. 13 Navy its first loss of the season when the Big Green cruised to a 9-0 victory over the Midshipmen Friday evening in New Hampshire. Navy had won nine straight before Dartmouth turned back the Mids in what is Navy's first of four matches in the New England region this weekend.

"Although we lost 9-0, we played pretty well," said 11th-year Navy head coach Craig Dawson. "We had some competitive games throughout the match, but we just couldn't piece together consecutive games in order to win a match. Dartmouth is a tough team and I think it was good to get a match like this under our belt as we continue to progress."

The most competitve match of the evening was at the No. 7 slot where senior Tommy McNamara (New York, N.Y) won the opening game, 11-8. However, sophomore Robbie Maycock fought his way back to knot the match at one apiece with an 11-8 win in game two. Maycock pushed his lead to 2-1 with an 11-2 win in the third. McNamara battled to the end, but came up short in the fourth, 11-9.

Dartmouth rookie Chris Jung scored a 3-0 win over Navy sophomore Billy Abrams (Wilmington, Del.), who pushed up to the No. 3 position this week, but all three games were tight. Jung set the tone by edging out Abrams, 12-10, in the opening game. He again narrowly escaped defeat in the second by posting an 11-9 win before closing out the match with an 11-6 victory.

Junior John Tracey (Owings Mills, Md.) also stood firm in his opening match against Dartmouth junior Luke Lee. Lee scored a 12-10 win in the opening game before finding an easier path to the match win by way of 11-7 and 11-3 wins.

The Midshipmen return to action on Saturday where they will battle Tufts (4:30 pm) and Northeastern (6:00 pm) in back-to-back matches in Boston. Meanwhile, Navy will conclude the weekend with a Sunday matinee against Connecticut College beginning at 10:00 am in Boston.
