Jason Boothe named Athletic Director at Dixie State

March 10, 2010

Jason Boothe has been named the new Director of Athletics at Dixie State College of Utah. The announcement was made March 9th by college president Dr. Stephen D. Nadauld.

Boothe said, "My family and I are very excited and honored to have this opportunity to join the Red Storm family and be a part of what promises to be a very exciting future for Dixie State College and Red Storm Athletics.

Boothe 36, comes to DSC from the United States Naval Academy (USNA) where he served as Associate Athletic Director for Operations since 2004. Prior to that, he served as an Assistant AD for Operations from 2002 to 2004. Boothe has spent a total of 10 years at USNA performing a variety of roles. His appointment follows a national search in which President Nadauld believes the perfect fit for our rising athletic department has been found.

"I am very excited to have a prospect like Jason Boothe as the new athletic director. He comes from a much respected program and brings with him valuable experiences and talent that will add to the already great folks we have in our athletic department. I look forward to the future of our athletic department and the course that it will head under his direction."

Boothe brings with him a solid reputation and the respect of his peers at the Naval Academy. "I want to thank Chet Gladchuk, the Athletic Director at Navy, as well as Eric Ruden and Allan Heinze, also from Navy for their leadership and mentoring over the last decade."

In his 10 years at USNA, Boothe's responsibilities included all game day operations for Navy football home and neutral site games, the annual Army-Navy game and the Notre Dame-Navy game every two years. He helped supervise the construction and assisted with the fundraising for the $20 million Brigade Sports Complex, a 220,000 square foot facility. In 2006, Boothe received the Naval Academy Athletic Association Distinguished Leadership Award.

"I've been very fortunate to be part of a tremendous institution at the United States Naval Academy for the last 10 years where the term student athlete is true to its definition," said Boothe. "I am eager to work with the student-athletes that make up the Red Storm family to ensure success for them both on the field of play, but more importantly, in the classroom and in their futures after Dixie State."

Boothe is expected to begin work at DSC in early June. "I would like to thank President Nadauld and the members of the search committee for their confidence in me and I cannot wait to get started." Boothe will be officially announced as Dixie State's new Athletic Director at a press conference later this month.

"After visiting with President Nadauld and various staff members from the Athletic Department and the College, it became very clear to me that this is where I wanted to be. St. George will provide a fantastic community for my wife Hollie and I to raise our three children [Braden (6), Emma (3) Madelyn (3)] for many years to come."

Boothe earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and Public Administration from Northern Arizona University. He later received his Master's degree in Physical Education and Athletic Administration from Florida State University.
