The Road to the 80th NCAA Wrestling Championship
• Five members of the Navy wrestling team will begin their journey for an NCAA title on Thursday morning at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Neb. Session 1 of the tournament is set to begin at 11:00 am CT.
• Representing Navy are 2009 All-American and three-time NCAA selection Bryce Saddoris (157), along with first-time qualifiers sophomore Aaron Kalil (125), senior team captain Glenn Shober (149), junior Robby Neill (165) and former U.S. Freestyle Team member and 2008 Olympic alternate Scott Steele (HWT).
• For the sixth-consecutive year, Navy has at least five wrestlers advancing to the national tournament.
• The Mids are looking to build off of last year's 25th-place finish in which they produced a pair of All-Americans ... Navy has placed in the top 20 in two of the last three championships (18th in 2008 and `09) which is its best placement since 1990 when Navy finished 13th.
• The program's best finish in NCAA Tournament action was a fourth-place finish in 1954.
• Navy has won three national titles, by two men - Pete Blair won the 191-pound title in 1954 and `55, while Dan Muthler earned the crown in 1973 at 142 pounds.
• At least one Navy wrestler has participated in the NCAA Championship in each of the last 14 years, including all 10 under head coach Bruce Burnett.
• This is Navy's 62nd NCAA Tournament appearance ... in addition to winning three individual titles, 60 wrestlers have garnered All-America recognition, including nine under Bruce Burnett's direction ... among those All-Americans, Mark Conley, Matt Stolpinski and Joe Baker garnered honors multiple times during Burnett's tenure.
• After earning All-America recognition a year ago, Bryce Saddoris is looking to be crowned a two-time All-American ... should he accomplish the feat, he would be only the 16th wrestler in program history to claim All-America recognition multiple times.
• With two of the five wrestlers seeded (Bryce Saddoris 8, Scott Steele 12), the Mids have a solid chance of having two stand atop the championship platform ... in 2008, three Mids (Matt Stolpinski, Ed Prendergast and Joe Baker) gained All-America status, marking the first time Navy has produced three All-Americans in one season sine the 1966-67 campaign (Gary Burger, John Kent, Pete Vanderlofske) ... meanwhile it's only happened four times in school history ... and last year, Baker made a return appearance and was joined by Bryce Saddoris.

• Has put together a 22-11 record this season and a two-year mark of 39-28 at Navy.
• He placed fifth at the EIWA Championship and was one of two Navy wrestlers to receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship
Glenn Shober - 149 Pounds
• Will meet fourth-seeded Kyle Ruschell, a redshirt senior from Wisconsin, in the opening round of the NCAA Championship ... Ruschell has produced a 28-3 record this season

• Has served as the Mids' team captain this season
Bryce Saddoris - 157 Pounds
• Seeded eighth, he will meet the winner of the Justin Gaethje (Northern Colorado) vs. Hadley Harrison (Clarion) match.
• Owns a 7-10 record against the NCAA field and has faced 12 of the competitors this season.
• Three-time NCAA qualifier
• 2009 All-American
• Placed sixth at the 2009 NCAA Championship
• Owns a 3-4 career record at NCAA Championship -- 0-2 in 2008, 3-2 in 2009
• Finished as the runner-up at the EIWA Championship to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship
• Has produced a 108-30 record over three seasons, including a 30-10 mark this season
• Stands ninth on Navy's career wins list, trailing eighth-place Scott Schleicher (1987-90) by three wins
• Has wrestled the seventh-most matches in program history with 138 matches under his belt
• One of just five wrestlers in school history to win 30 or more matches three times in his career ... no Navy wrestler has won 30 matches in each of his four seasons.
Robby Neill - 165 Pounds
• His first-round opponent is Binghamton's Matt Kaylor who is a redshirt sophomore and has put together a 34-18 record

• Has amassed a 32-24 record in three seasons, including a 24-14 record this year

• First-time NCAA qualifier ... one of two Navy wrestlers to receive an at-large selection

• Met the minimum number of required matches to qualify for the NCAA Championship
• Placed fifth at the EIWA Championship, having to bow out of his last two matches with an ankle injury
• Has recorded a 79-23 record over his four seasons, including a 14-3 record this year
