HARTFORD, Conn. - After a solid opening day at the 2010 College Squash Association (CSA) Individual Championship, the Navy squash season came to a close on Saturday when senior Nils Mattsson (Spring House, Pa.) and Allan Lutz (McLean, Va.) dropped consolation decisions.

Mattsson, who has an outside shot at being named an All-American, dropped an 11-9, 11-3, 11-3 decision to Dartmouth's Chris Hanson in the Pool Division Consolation 2nd Draw. Serving Navy as its team captain this season, Mattsson turned in a 23-5 record during team play, winning all three of his matches at the CSA Team Championship played at Yale. He concludes his career with a 91-30 and is the only player to win 90 or more matches during head coach Craig Dawson's 10 years at Navy.

Meanwhile, Lutz also dropped out of the tournament on Saturday morning following a Molloy Division Consolation 2nd Draw loss to Brown's Brad Thompson, 12-10, 8-11, 11-6, 11-6. Lutz owned a 22-7 record over the course of the season as predominantly the Mids' No. 2 player. Though he struggled in the team tournament, he came back to have a solid individual championship. He heads into his final season boasting a 72-24 record.

"We really had a great season and I'm very proud of what we accomplished," said Dawson, who led the Mids to a 26-8 record. "We had great leadership from our seniors and I know that the underclassmen gained a great deal from Nils, Ben (Mantica) and Justin (Langan). They have left the team in a great state and I look forward to seeing how we can build upon the things we learned for next season."
