PELHAM, N.Y. - The Navy men's lightweight crew team posted victories in all of the three contested races against Columbia on Saturday morning.
In the first varsity race, Navy produced a time of 6:13.8 to finish 4.3 seconds ahead of second-place Columbia. The Midshipmen also edged the Lions in the second varsity event, 6:28.4-6:30.8.
Both of Navy's freshmen boats defeated Columbia's top freshmen crew on Saturday. Navy first freshmen boat crossed the finish line in 6:34.2, soon followed by its second varsity's 6:39.8 clocking, while host Columbia finished with a 6:50.4 showing.
"All our boats rowed well today," stated Navy head coach Steve Perry. "Conditions were aggressive and I was pleased with how we handled them. All the races were well-fought and I thought the fact that we were able to win these great battles was a good step for the program."
The Midshipmen (2-1) will return to action on Sunday, April 18, when they play host to Georgetown and Delaware at 6 a.m. on the Severn River.
