PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Navy women's tennis team closed out its road schedule in strong fashion with a 4-3 victory over a good Bryant team on Saturday morning. The win was Navy's fourth in a row and the team's eighth victory in its last nine matches.
Navy is now 11-3 overall in its first year at the varsity level, while Bryant dropped to 3-11 overall.
"The conditions today were tough as the weather was extremely blustery and cold. This was a good win," said Navy head coach Keith Puryear. "To go into a quality team's home and come out with a win is always a great accomplishment, especially for a young team like ours."
Navy once again won the crucial doubles point by winning two of the three matches. At No. 1 doubles, Navy's Emani Decquir and Brittney Boucher improved to 7-2 this spring with an 8-4 win over Claudia Hidalgo and Valeria Couto Cuervo.
The Mids then clinched the doubles point at No. 2 doubles when freshmen Dye Das and Stefanie Ton defeated Irma Rodriguez and Chelsea Downing, 8-2. The victory moved the doubles pair to 8-1 this spring.
Navy split the six singles matches, but was able to earn the 4-3 victory, thanks to the doubles points.
Navy received wins at Nos. 2-4 from Boucher, Ton and Das.
At No. 2, Brittney Boucher moved to 11-2 this spring with an impressive 6-1, 6-3 triumph over Couto Cuervo.

Navy's last victory came at No. 4 singles from Dye Das. Das defeated Katie Francazio, 6-1, 6-3, for her 10th victory of the spring. Das has now won three matches in a row.
Navy will close out its regular season on Tuesday against Coppin State, beginning at 3:00 pm at the Tose Family Tennis Center at the Brigade Sports Complex. Navy will then compete in its first Patriot League Tournament starting next Friday in Hamilton, N.Y., and hosted by Colgate.
