Q. Did you get accomplished what you wanted to get accomplished today?

A. What we had planned we got done, but we still have a lot of work to do. It went OK. We have a lot of room for improvement, but we accomplished what I wanted to get done.

Q. When you were going one's against the one's the offense moved the ball down the field pretty easily. I know Buddy was pretty upset and angry. What was your take on that?

A. That's how practice has gone. One day the offense can't get back to the line of scrimmage and the next day the defense can't stop the offense. We need to be way more consistent on both sides of the ball. The defense had way too many penalties. Last week I thought the offense had way too many penalties and this week the defense had three offside penalties. We can't have that. A big part of who we are is not beating ourselves and we need to clean things up the next two weeks.

Q. That does have to be a concern. There have been way too many flags for both scrimmages, more than is normally thrown in a Navy football game.

A. We just have to continue to work and get better. When guys get tired they make mistakes. It was good to have some heat out here so guys had to fight through being exhausted and hot. It was good work, but it showed we have a long ways to go mentally to stay focused.

Q. You didn't do as much one versus one, two versus two as you normally do, why was that?

A. I felt like we had pretty good competition against each other all camp and we wanted to start focusing on Maryland. The one's, two's and three's went one series against each other and then after that we went to the scouts and started getting ready for Maryland.

Q. The depth chart will probably come out Monday and you will set the scout team, correct?

A. No doubt.

Q. So in terms of getting the scout team set that's pretty much done?

A. It's pretty close. There might be a few guys that we have question marks about, but most of it we have a pretty idea of what's going to happen. We are also trying to formulate the special teams depth chart. If a guy is second on the depth chart on a special teams, but is fifth team at his position he's probably not going to travel so we need to adjust some special teams spots.

Q. I noticed that Murray and Teich were not out there with the first team on the first series. Was that because you are trying to figure out who the third fullback is?

A. Part of it was that and we were trying to save those guys a little bit against the first defensive line.

Q. Is that the same reason Tyler Simmons was not out there?

A. We know what Tyler can do and we are trying to find some other guys to play in there.

Q. Are there still some personnel question marks in your mind? Is Caleb King going to start at inside linebacker?

A. I think so. We will grade the tape over the weekend and go over all that in our staff meeting on Monday morning.

Q. But the depth chart that comes out on Monday will set the scout team, because starting next week you are going to divide fields and go scouts?

A. Right. We did a little bit of that last week and that's always a tough time because you don't want to crush kids but we kind of informed kids that this is what's going to be happening. This next Monday is kind of a gloomy day and that's usually a day when some guys actually quit and that's always a tough thing but reality sets in for some of these guys.
