ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy men's cross country team was one of 152 Division I programs to earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team accolades, it was announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Thursday. As a team, the Mids posted a 3.00 cumulative GPA.
The Patriot League was well represented on the All-Academic Team list as Navy joined Bucknell, Colgate, Lafayette, Lehigh and Army as conference programs that received the honor.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship.
Earlier this year, Navy had a total of 16 student-athletes named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, which was the most in program history.
The Mids claimed their third consecutive Patriot League championship this past season, led by Andrew Hanko who won the individual title for the second straight year. Hanko later became the first Midshipman since 1999 to compete at the NCAA Championship.
