Final Stats

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Nationally-ranked William & Mary posted a 7-0 victory over the Navy men's tennis team Sunday evening at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center in Williamsburg, Va. The No. 75 Tribe improved its record to 9-5 on the season with the win, while the Midshipmen fell to 7-3 on the year with the loss.

"It was the third-straight quality opponent we have faced," said Navy head coach John Officer. "Just as in our matches against North Carolina and UNC Greensboro this week, William & Mary was a little too much for us today. They played awfully well against us."

The Tribe began the day by posting wins at each of the three doubles flights. Anton Andersson and John Banks first posted an 8-4 win over Navy's Nicholas Gutsche (So., Sarasota, Fla.) and Zach Nicholson (Jr., Bowie, Md.) at No. 2 doubles, then the team of Ben Hoogland and Jamie Whiteford won an 8-3 decision against Marcus Rebersak (Jr., Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Anderson Walls (So., Alpharetta, Ga.) at No. 3 doubles to give William & Mary the doubles point.

William & Mary then won five of the six singles matches in straight sets. The lone match to go into a third set -- in which a tiebreaker was used in place of a complete set -- was at No. 3 singles where Vidal won a 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (10-7) match over Nicholson.

Navy will complete a stretch of three matches in five days when it plays Wednesday at Penn.
