Navy Women's Tennis Sweeps Past Pair of Opponents

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy women's tennis team continued its impressive early-season run with a pair of wins defeating Seton Hall, 4-3, and St. Mary's (Md.), 7-0, at the Brigade Sports Complex on Saturday. The wins move Navy's record to 11-4 overall and it's the 10th win in its last 11 duals after starting the season 1-3.

Navy played George Washington at 7:00 pm on Saturday night, but results were not known at the time of release. Check back on NavySports.com on Sunday morning for complete results from that match.

In the win over Seton Hall, Navy won the critical doubles point with victories at Nos. 2-3. At No. 3 doubles, Brittney Boucher (Sr. / San Antonio, Texas) and Darien Sears (Fr. / Silver Spring, Md.) defeated their Seton Hall opponent by an 8-3 score, while the Mids clinched the doubles point at No. 2 doubles when the pairing of Emani Decquir (So. / Sacramento, Calif.) and Stephanie Ton (So. / Milpitas, Calif.) was victorious by an 8-5 tally.

Navy then won three singles matches to finish off the Pirates, 4-3. Sears gave Navy a 2-0 lead with a 6-1, 6-2, win at No. 4 singles. Decquir pushed the lead to 3-0 with a 6-2, 6-1, victory at No. 2 singles. Seton Hall cut the margin to 3-1, but freshman Erin Snook (Tampa, Fla.) ended the Seton Hall rally at No. 5 singles with a 6-2, 7-5, victory to clinch the match for the Midshipmen. Seton Hall would win the final two completed matches to trim the final margin to 4-3.

Navy then blasted Division III St. Mary's (Md.) in its second match of the day, allowing the Seahawks to win just three games combined in both doubles and singles play. Navy was able to play its reserves against St. Mary's (Md.), giving the team some much-needed match experience.

In doubles play, Navy won all three matches by a combined score of 24-1. Natalie Houle (So. / The Woodlands, Texas) and Caitlin Olsen (Fr. / Los Gatos, Calif.) won at No. 1 doubles, 8-0. Cassi Kovac (Fr. / Sedona, Ariz.) and Julia Zook (Fr. / Seattle, Wash.) wrapped up the doubles point with an 8-0 victory at No. 3 doubles. Haley Adams (Fr. / Woodstock, Ga.) and Dye Das (So. / Cherry Hill, N.J.) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-1 triumph at No. 2 doubles.

In singles play, Navy won four of its matches by matching 6-0, 6-0, scores with two victories coming by 6-1, 6-0, scores.

Das, Katie Laderer (So. / Norfolk, Va.), Houle and Adams all won by 6-0, 6-0, scores at Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 5 singles, respectively. Olsen and Kovac won at Nos. 4 and 6 by 6-1, 6-0, scores.

Navy hit's the road next Friday for a match at traditional power Old Dominion, beginning at 2:00 pm in Norfolk, Va.
