Navy Women's Tennis Sweeps Past Morgan State

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy women's tennis team tuned up for Patriot League play with a 7-0 blanking of Morgan State on Wednesday night at the Brigade Sports Complex in Annapolis. The Mids improved to 15-9 overall heading into its opening weekend of Patriot League play.

Navy won all three doubles matches, including one by default as Morgan State brought just five players to the dual meet.

Dye Das (So. / Cherry Hill, N.J.) and Darien Sears (Fr. / Silver Spring, Md.) won Navy's first match of the day with an 8-0 victory at No. 2 doubles. Brittney Boucher (Sr. / San Antonio, Texas) and Erin Snook (Fr. / Tampa, Fla.) then clinched the doubles point with an 8-2 victory at No. 1 singles. Navy won at No. 3 doubles by default.

The Midshipmen then cruised in singles play, with three of the five victories coming by 6-0, 6-0 scores by Natalie Houle (So. / The Woodlands, Texas) at No. 3, Katie Laderer (So. / Norfolk, Va.) at No. 4 and Caitlin Olsen (Fr. / Los Gatos, Calif.) at No. 5 singles. Dye Das won at No. 2 singles by a 6-1, 6-1 score and Emani Decquir (So. / Sacramento, Calif.) closed out Navy's victories with a 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (10-5) score.

The Mids were awarded the victory at No. 6 singles by default.

Navy will now enter Patriot League play this weekend with a pair of matches against Colgate (Saturday / 2:30 pm) and Bucknell (Sunday / 10:00 am).

"We are looking forward to starting conference play. We expect the matches to be competitive and intense and we are excited to start league play," said Navy head coach Keith Puryear. "These matches will be a good indication of where we are. We have been working hard and have played a lot of matches and I think we are ready for the weekend."
