MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Navy's Olaf Olson (Sr., Bainbridge Island, Wash.) placed 32nd in the one-meter springboard event Thursday on the opening day of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championship. The three-day event is being contested at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center.
Olson tallied 269.90 points on his six dives Thursday.
"It was a good first day for Olaf," said Navy head coach Joe Suriano. "He didn't really hit on any dive, but he didn't miss either. He performed well against the best divers in the country. He is a better three-meter diver, so we are looking forward to his taking part in that event."
The three-meter springboard event will be contested Friday, then Navy swimmers Mark Meyer (Jr., Bethesda, Md.) and Justin Vagts (So., Crofton, Md.) will compete on Saturday.
