HANOVER, N.H. --The 2010-11 Navy squash season concluded Saturday with standouts Hunter Bouchard (Greenville, Del.) and Allan Lutz (McLean, Va.) bowing out of the 2010-11 College Squash Association (CSA) Individual Championship held at the John W. Berry Sports Center on the campus of Dartmouth College Saturday.
Bouchard won his opening two matches of the tournament on Friday, including an upset victory over fifth-seeded Rishi Jalan of Cornell in the round of 32. However, Brown's Adrian Leanza bounced Bouchard from the tournament on Saturday morning behind a 13-11, 11-2, 11-2 victory over the Navy sophomore. He closes the book on his season with a 22-9 record.
Meanwhile, Lutz played the final matches of his career on Saturday in the consolation bracket. Lutz lost his opening-round match on Friday and was forced to fight his way back through the consolation bracket. He opened Saturday's action with a 3-1 win over Bowdoin's Stephan Danyluk, 11-7, 7-11, 11-3, 11-1. However, his career came to an end Saturday evening when Vir Seth of St. Lawrence dealt Lutz a 12-10, 11-5, 5-11 14-12 loss in the consolation semifinals.
Lutz produced a team-best 26-10 record in his final season and leaves as the winningest squash player during head coach Craig Dawson's 11 seasons. He just missed out on becoming the only Navy squash player to reach 100 wins over his career, posting a remarkable 99-36 record over four seasons.
