Philadelphia, Pa. - The Navy men's heavyweight crew team placed second in the varsity eight behind Harvard, but finished ahead of Penn, on Saturday at the Adams Cup on the Schuykill River. Navy competed in five races and finished second to Harvard in every one. The varsity eight boat is now 3-3 this season.
Harvard won the varsity eight, and the Adams Cup Trophy, by winning the 2,000-meter course in light wind and rainy conditions with a time of 5:31.5. Navy was second in the event at 5:35.1 and Penn was a distant third at 5:47.1.
Harvard, which swept its fourth straight regatta, also placed ahead of Navy in the second varsity eight, third varsity eight, fourth varsity eight and freshmen eight.
Navy's closest race of the day was the fourth varsity eight. The Mids were just behind Harvard, 5:57.0 - 5:59.0.
Navy will next take on Columbia and George Washington in Princeton next Saturday for the Stevenson Trophy.
