Baseball Hosts Georgetown on Wednesday

After going 3-1 against Lehigh last weekend, the Navy baseball team returns home on Wednesday to host Georgetown at 3:30 p.m. at Max Bishop Stadium. Wednesday's contest will be the first of home-and-home games between the two programs, as Navy will travel to Georgetown on April 27.

Midweek Quick Hitters
• By winning three of four games at Lehigh last weekend, it marked the fifth time in the last six seasons Navy has won its opening Patriot League series.
• Navy boosted its season double play total last weekend as the defense turned a total of nine double plays in the four-game set...Navy turned five double plays alone in its 9-5 win over Lehigh in game two on Saturday...The Mids are 10-3 in games this season when they record a double play.
• The Midshipmen are 9-1 this season when scoring in the first inning.
• Navy has an all-time record of 55-42 against Georgetown.
• When Patriot League statistics were released on Monday, Navy had leaders in several offensive categories, including: hits (Alex Azor, 45), triples (Brandon Beans, 4), runs scored (Azor, 33) and RBIs (Dave Milanes, 32).
• Ben Nelson currently leads all Patriot League pitchers with 41.2 innings pitched and 36 strikeouts.
• With just six strikeouts in 130 at-bats this season, Azor ranks as the nation's 22nd-toughest hitter to strike out.
• For the second time this season, Jeff Bland went 5-for-5 as he accomplished the feat in Sunday's 12-2 win...Bland previously went 5-for-5 against Yale on March 19...Alex Azor also has a 5-for-5 game this season.

Entering Tuesday's game with UMBC, Georgetown was 17-12 overall with a 1-5 mark in conference play ...As a team, the Hoyas are hitting .285 with an on-base percentage of .377... Starters Rand Ravnaas (.383, 26 RBIs), Mike Garza (.336, 29 RBIs) and Erik Fernandez (.330, 18 RBIs) are the team's top hitters ... The Georgetown pitching staff has an ERA of 3.87 and is holding opponents to a .273 batting average ... Georgetown is 4-6 in road games this season.
