Junior outside linebacker Brye French was named the ECAC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance at No. 10 South Carolina on Saturday. French, making his first-career start, recorded a career high 13 tackles and a sack in Navy's 24-21 loss.

To be eligible for the award, a school must be located in the East or play at least half of its schedule against Eastern teams. This includes such schools as Connecticut, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Penn State, South Florida, Syracuse, Boston College, Temple, Louisville, Army, Cincinnati, Maryland and East Carolina.
