ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Three Navy men's lacrosse games will be televised by CBS Sports Network this season with the possibility of two additional contests should the Mids qualify for the Patriot League Tournament in April.
The March 30 Patriot League matchup between Navy and Lehigh at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium (7:00 pm) kicks off the national television broadcast schedule, as the Mids seek to avenge their loss at the hands of the Mountain Hawks a year ago. Navy owns a 28-2 series advantage over Lehigh, including a 21-1 record in games played in Annapolis. This year's battle marks the first time Lehigh has visited Annapolis since 2008 when the Mids claimed a 14-3 victory over the Mountain Hawks.
CBS Sports Network will also broadcast one of the nation's most storied rivalries, the Army-Navy game. The Mids, who hold a 57-30-3 series advantage, make the trek up to West Point in what will be the first regular-season game played on Army's home field since 2008. The 2009 and '10 contests were played at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore as part of Inside Lacrosse's Day of Rivals event. Army and Navy, however, did square off at Michie Stadium in the 2010 Patriot League Championship. This year's contest marks the 91st meeting between the two programs and is set for April 14 at 12:00 pm.
Meeting for the 63rd-consecutive year and the 86th time in series history, the April 21 battle (12:00 pm) between Navy and Johns Hopkins will be aired by CBS Sports Network beginning at 12:00 pm. The last time the two teams met in Annapolis (2010), the Mids' Andy Warner scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lead Navy to its first win over the Blue Jays since 1974.
CBS Sports Network is also slated to carry both Patriot League Men's Lacrosse Tournament semifinal contests on April 27 at 5:00 pm and 7:45 pm, as well as the Patriot League Championship at 3:00 pm on April 29. The Patriot League Tournament will be played at the site of the highest seed in the four-team field.
Additionally, 10 of the Mids' 12 regular-season games will be carried by radio-partner 1430 WNAV with Pete Medhurst calling the action in what is his 14th season. Navy's Feb. 11 contest against VMI will not be available due to the annual Star Games involving the Army and Navy men's and women's basketball games, while the March 10 game at Lafayette also will not be carried due to a lack of facilities.
As in years past, those Navy home games that are not televised will be available for viewing on Navy All-Access.
Following a pair of preseason scrimmages at Duke (Jan. 28) and at Virginia (Feb. 4), Navy will open its 2012 campaign on Feb. 11 when it plays host to VMI. Game time is set for 12:00 pm at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
