ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy squash team closed out the weekend with a flawless 7-0 record on Sunday by defeating both Sewanee and Washington, 9-0, at the Navy Squash Invitational.

"I was pleased with the concentration level of the team throughout the weekend," said 13th-year Navy head coach Craig Dawson. "We played pretty much nonstop for three days and I thought we made progress from match to match."

The Mids won all seven matches over the weekend without giving up a singles match, including Sunday where sophomore Jim Kacergis (Malvern, Pa.) set the tone from the No. 1 slot on the ladder. Kacergis produced a pair of wins to improve to 5-0 on the year.

Freshmen Mitch Bottini (New Hamburg, N.Y.) and Bill Kacergis (Malvern, Pa.) rattled off seven wins in a row, as Bottini opened Sunday's action with an 11-2, 11-2, 11-4 win over Sewanee's Harry Muth and Kacergis closed out his first collegiate weekend of action with an 11-6, 11-4, 11-6 victory over Michael Zhou of Washington.

Senior Cotter Walker (Orlando, Fla.) and second-year standout John Hsu (Manhassett, N.Y.) kept their career unbeaten streaks intact. Hsu is now 16-0 after capturing sweeps over Sewanee's Sarah Walker and Washington's Chad Rixse, while Walker is now 12-0 after taking down Alex Sooper of Sewanee and Washington's Bilal Hassan Khan in three games.

The Mids return to action next weekend when they play host to the Navy Veterans Weekend Round Robin which will feature matches against Kenyon, Denison, Hobart, Georgetown, Washington (Mo.) and Johns Hopkins.
