Final Stats
ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Seven different Mids posted at least one victory to help the Navy men's tennis team record a 6-1 win over Morgan State Tuesday afternoon at the Tose Family Tennis Center in Annapolis.
Navy (11-5) swept all three doubles matches from Morgan State (1-5) to earn the doubles point. The first match off of the courts was at No. 2 doubles where Chris Kenney (So., Westlake Village, Calif.) and Marcus Rebersak (Sr., Pittsburgh, Pa.) recorded an 8-1 win over Aaron Benjamin and Jannick Tash. The Mids secured the doubles point with an 8-3 win at the No. 1 flight by the team of Calvin Mark (Fr., Union City, Calif.) and Peter McDonald (Fr., Chapel Hill, N.C.) over Duwane Thomas and Eric Ward.
Nicholas Gutsche (Jr., Sarasota, Fla.) gave the Mids their second team point of the day when he lost just one game in defeating Aaron Benjamin at No. 5 singles. Mark then won a 6-2, 6-3 decision over Duk Young-Park at No. 2 singles, with Blake Daniel (Fr., Overland Park, Kan.) giving Navy its match-clinching fourth point with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Tash at No. 4 singles.
"We played extremely well tonight," said Navy head coach John Officer. "I'm very pleased. We dominated the doubles and were very much in control in the singles. We look good as we are approaching the start of the Patriot League season."
Navy will next be in action March 21 when the Mids play host to George Washington.
