ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Saturday, Dec. 7 is not only Pearl Harbor Day, it is also the 50th anniversary of the 1963 Army-Navy Game and social media is being utilized to look back at the historic game.

That matchup between service academy rivals came weeks after President John F. Kennedy was killed and 102,000 fans piled into Municipal Stadium in Philadelphia with a worldwide audience tuned in on CBS.

Utilizing the Twitter handle @Army_Navy_Game, video, photos and text will be used to recreate the day beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Beginning about 11 a.m., through kickoff at 1:30 p.m. to postgame reaction, @Army_Navy_Game will relive the game in “real time” as it happened 50 years ago.

Video from Marching On: 1963 Army-Navy Remembered will be part of the interaction, allowing fans to watch historic clips, see scoring runs and hear play-by-play calls of the game.

In addition, team media guides, national magazine covers and archived photos from both Army and Navy will help to tell the story of a nation recovering from the shocking assassination of its president.

While Twitter will be utilized for timely updates, Facebook galleries, YouTube clips and Pinterest boards will support the social media efforts.
