WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Navy gymnastics team wrapped up competition at the USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships on Saturday with the individual finals. Five Mids competed on Saturday and four earned USAG All-America honors by placing in the top six of their respective event finals.
Freshman Mitchell Larios picked up USAG All-America honors in both the parallel bars and vault. He posted the best Navy finish of the day as he tied for third place on the parallel bars with a score of 13.8. On the vault, he matched his career-best score of 14.5 that he also posted on Friday night in the team competition.
Fellow freshman Andrew Potts earned USAG All-America honors in a pair of events as well. He placed fourth on the horizontal bar with a 13.85 to take fourth and tied teammate Chris Junghans on the pommel horse for fifth place with a 13.5.
Thomas Goodell finished just behind Potts on the high bar, placing fifth with a 13.8 to earn USAG All-American accolades in the event. Goodell also competed on the rings, taking eighth with a score of 13.9.
Junghans, who picked up the All-America distinction on the pommel horse, also competed on the rings, placing seventh with a 13.95.
Joshua Steves just missed on garnering USAG All-America honors on the vault, placing sixth with a score of 14.35.
Navy will return to action next weekend at the ECAC Championships in Springfield, Mass., March 5-6.
