Oct. 13, 2014 ROCKVILLE, Md. - Round two of the Maryland Terrapin Men's Golf Invitational was suspended Monday evening at the Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Md. due to darkness. The second round will pick up Tuesday morning at 8:30 am, followed by the final round of the 54-hole tournament.
Despite rain showers throughout the day, the 12-team tournament stayed the course and the 75 players soldiered through difficult playing conditions until darkness fell. Loyola (Md.) was atop the leader board following the opening round with a 1-under par 287 with three of its players among the top 10. Maryland, meanwhile, was just three strokes behind in second with a 2-over par 290, followed by Boston College (293, +5), George Mason (298, +10) and Navy (300, +12).
Two Mids were among the top 20 through the first 18 holes with rookie Thomas Fricke (Haymarket, Va.) shooting par to nestle in among three others in eighth place. Sophomore Connor Tallman (Lake Oswego, Ore.) fell in at 17th with a 2-over par 74, while seniors August Jonas (Jacksonville, Fla.) and Bryce Keene (Bakersfield, Calif.) and sophomore Devin Terry (La Crosse, Wis.) all turned in a 5-over par 77 to sit in 39th.
George Mason's Kyle Hart paced the field through the first 18 with a 4-under par 68, but had company with Maryland's Connor Tendall just a stroke back in second and Air Force's Kyle Fuller and Loyola's Matt Oshrine are tied for third at 2-under.
