Five Navy Players Named All-Independent By Phil Steele

Dec. 28, 2014
Senior guard Jake Zuzek, senior fullback Noah Copeland, senior linebacker Jordan Drake, junior quarterback Keenan Reynolds and junior defensive end Will Anthony have been named to Phil Steele's All-Independent team.
Zuzek helped open up holes on the offensive line for an offense that averaged 31.8 points and 419.5 yards per game. The Mids averaged 338.1 yards per game on the ground, which is currently number one in the country (Georgia Tech enters its bowl game averaging 333.6).
Copeland finished the 2014 season with 952 yards and five touchdowns on 129 carries. His 7.4 yards per carry ranks as the second-best single-season average in school history.
Drake led the Mids in tackles in 2014 with 109, including 63 solo stops. He also had 2.5 tackles for a loss, two forced fumbles and a sack against Army.
Reynolds finished the 2014 campaign with 1,191 yards rushing and 23 touchdowns, while throwing for 843 yards and six touchdowns. His 23 rushing touchdowns this year were the third most in the country and the most by a quarterback. It is also the third most in school history and tied for the fourth most in NCAA history by a quarterback. His 64 career rushing touchdowns are tied for the fourth most in NCAA history by any player and he enters his senior year needing 13 touchdowns to tie and 14 to break the NCAA record for career rushing touchdowns (the record is 77 by RB Montee Ball of Wisconsin).
Anthony had a breakout junior campaign on the defensive line for the Mids, recording 67 tackles (fifth most on the team) and a team-high 11 tackles for a loss and 2.5 sacks. He also came up with a fumble recovery.
Navy finished the 2014 season with an 8-5 record and a victory over San Diego State in the Poinsettia Bowl. It marked just the second time in school history that Navy has won a bowl game in back-to-back seasons and it's the 11th time in the last 12 years that Navy has recorded at least eight wins in a season.
