Mids Fourth Following Opening Round of Bulldog Florida Invitational

2014 Bulldog Florida Invitational - Round 1 Results

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Junior August Jonas (Jacksonville, Fla.), is among three Mids on the Navy Blue squad who are in the top 20, as the Navy men's golf team closed out the opening round of the Bulldog Florida Invitational played Wednesday at the Windsor Parke Golf Club in Jacksonville, Fla. in fourth place.

Jonas anchored the Mids' efforts by way of his 7-over par 79 which is the 13th-lowest score heading into Thursday final round. A stroke behind Jonas in 16th is classmate Bryce Keene (Bakersfield, Calif.), while seniors Chris House (Raleigh, N.C.) and Drew Selby (Charlotte, N.C.) turned in an 81 and 82, respectively. Rounding out the squad is freshman Devin Terry (La Crosse, Wis.) who stands 38th with a 14-over par 86.

Navy is also fielding a second team, Navy Gold, which stands sixth among the nine-team field. Sophomore David Won (Bothell, Wash.) played his best round since his arrival in Annapolis a year ago, posting a 4-over par. Won is among three players tied for fifth and is 6 strokes out of the lead. Sophomore Garrett Moyer (Annapolis, Md.) is in 33rd with an 85, followed by sophomore Zeke Shaffer (Radford, Va.) in 38th with an 86 and Staton Pruitt in 42nd with an 87. Team captain David Hall (Huntersville, N.C.) shot a 92 and is in 50th.

Four Mids are playing as individuals with two of the four standing among the top 10. Freshman Ben Allen (San Marino, Calif.) is tied win Won in fifth place with a 4-over par 76, while fellow newcomer Connor Tallman (Lake Oswego, Ore.) is a stroke behind in eighth with a 5-over par 77. Junior Robert Zieser-Misenheimer (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) posted a 90 and is in 48th place, while sophomore Travis Beach (Dallas, Texas) sits in 53rd with a 93.

Butler is atop the leader board with a 15-over par 303 and owns a 5-stroke advantage over second-place Savannah State (308). Florida A&M stands third with a 319, while Navy trails by just 3 strokes in fourth with a 322. Providence rounds out the top five with a 329.

Butler freshman Joey Arcuri leads the individual standings after turning in a 2-under par 70, while Florida A&M's Kevin Parker shot par and is in second.

The Bulldog Florida Invitational, hosted by the Butler Bulldogs, will conclude Thursday with 18 holes.
