Sept. 27, 2014 MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Navy senior Christina Blair crossed the tape at 23:29.8 to lead the Navy women's cross country team to a 23rd place finish at the Roy Griak Invitational Saturday at the Les Bolstad Golf Course.
Out of 390 runners, Blair led Navy with a 119th-place finish. Junior Kelley Robinson and freshman Allison Parks finished right behind teammate Blair with 120th and 121th place finishes at 23:30.0 and 23:30.1. Meghan Harvey and Morgan O'Connor rounded out Navy's top five scoring runners with 139th and 144th place finishes at 23:42.9 and 23:44.9.
Navy's top five scorers placed Navy at 23 out of 35 teams with 643 points. No. 3 Michigan State led all squads with a first-place score of 66 points, recording two runners in the top 10. Iowa State (102), North Carolina (174), Boise State (184) and Baylor (209) rounded out the top five in that order.
Arizona State's Shelby Houlihan paced the 390-runner field with a mark of 20:34.5, holding a 5.32 pace per mile. Rachel Johnson (Baylor), Crystal Nelson (Iowa State), Katy Moen (Iowa State) and Rachele Schulist (Michigan State) capped the top five runners of the field.
Navy will look ahead to next weekend's Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh, on Saturday. The meet is scheduled for 10 a.m.
