Women's Tennis Opens Spring Season With Two Dual Wins

Jan. 17, 2015

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women's tennis team (2-0) opened its spring dual season by defeating Saint Francis U (0-1), 6-1, and St. Bonaventure (0-1), 5-2, on Saturday at the Tose Family Tennis Center in the Brigade Sports Complex.

Navy showcased its depth as 11 different players earned at least one single or doubles win over the course of the doubleheader.

"We had two good team wins today," said head coach Keith Puryear. "Everybody got a chance to play in both singles and doubles and we beat two solid teams. It was good to get out and compete and see how we are doing. I feel pretty good about the way we came out today. We still have some things we need to work, but overall I was pleased with what I saw."

Navy opened the day with the 6-1 win over Saint Francis U. The Mids swept the doubles point before taking five of the six singles matches. In the nightcap, Navy defeated St. Bonaventure, 5-2.
