CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Navy men's soccer senior Derek Vogel has been named the Patriot League Corvias Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office recently announced.

Vogel helped Navy (6-4-1, 3-0-0 PL) post two conference wins last week. Navy defeated Lehigh, 3-1, on Wednesday and then won at Holy Cross, 1-0, on Saturday.

Vogel assisted on sophomore Daniel Zaremba's goal in Navy's win over Lehigh on Wednesday. Vogel scored the game-winning goal in the win at Holy Cross. As a center back, he also helped limit Holy Cross to just two shots on goal in the shutout victory.

The team captain leads Navy in scoring this season with 10 points. He has three goals and four assists this season. He has scored at least 10 points in three of his four seasons at Navy.

Vogel garners his ninth career conference weekly honor and his second of the season.

The Mids will next play at Bucknell on Saturday at 4:00 PM.
