SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- The Navy women's tennis team had one of its most successful fall tournament performances in program history this weekend at Wofford's Terrier Invitational by winning a total of eight flights. Navy won an impressive seven of the nine main draw singles flights that it had entries in and also won the Gold doubles bracket.

"It was probably the best tournament weekend that one of my teams has had in the 20-some odd years that I've been coaching," said head coach Keith Puryear. "It was the first time in my career that in tournament play every single one of our players won their first round match. To have the types of results that we had this weekend was very impressive and was a testament to the hard work our young ladies have put in all fall. I am very proud of them and the way we played."

Navy had an overall singles record of 35-9 at the Terrier Invitational.

Navy competed against host Wofford, USC Upstate, Presbyterian, Western Carolina, Gardner-Webb, UNC Asheville, Arkansas State, Radford, Bluefield College and Virginia Tech in the 11-team field.

Junior Rozel Hernandez won the Gold Singles bracket with a 3-0 record. Hernandez defeated UNC Asheville's Ericka Rivero in the opening round, 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (8-6) and then defeated Wofford's Catherine Martin in the semifinals, 7-5, 6-4. Hernandez won the flight by defeating Julie Gauguery of Arkansas State, 7-6, 7-6.

Hernandez won her second singles flight of the fall tournament slate and improved her singles record to 14-3 this season.

Sophomore Amanda Keller won the Wofford Singles bracket with a 3-0 mark. Keller defeated Gardner-Webb's Sandra Bolstad, 6-1, 6-1, in the opening round, Radford's Meili Martin in the semifinals, 1-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-5) and UNC Asheville's Lauren Brooker in the championship, 6-3, 6-2.

Freshman Josie Rogers captured the Gray Singles flight. Rogers beat Bluefield's Paloma Sanchez in the opening round, 6-0, 6-3. Rogers beat UNC Asheville's Kylee Shipley in the semifinals, 7-5, 6-3 and then beat Western Carolina's Alexa Webb in the final, 7-6 (7-1), 6-1.

Freshman Carlee Conway won the College Singles Flight with three wins, including a 6-4, 6-1 victory over fellow Navy freshman Sabrina Jiang, 6-4, 6-1, in the championship.

Freshman Anastasia Kondrasov also defeated a Navy teammate to win a singles flight. Kondrasov won the Terrier Singles flight with three wins, including a 6-3, 6-4 win over Navy sophomore Kristine Rojo in the final.

Navy junior Audrey Channell won the Conquer Singles flight with a 3-0 record and freshman Kellyn Abbanat went 2-0 to win the Prevail Singles flight.

Navy senior Sam Droop and freshman Catalina Rico won the Gold Doubles flight. The duo defeated USC Upstate's Anna Zoske and Valeria Zarama in the opening round, 6-2 and then beat UNC Asheville's Ericka Rivero and Kylee Shipley in the semifinals, 7-6 (7-4). Droop and Rico beat Western Carolina's Megan McLinden and Shannon Bettiol in the final, 7-5.

Navy has concluded its fall tournament schedule. Navy will open the spring dual schedule against William & Mary on January 15.
