Nov. 24, 2015 The Navy football team moved up one spot to 15th in the latest College Football Playoff rankings following last week's 44-21 victory over Tulsa. The Mids are one of two American Athletic Conference teams ranked in the Top 25 and the highest ranked team among the Group of Five.
Toledo, from the Mid-American Conference, is ranked 24th, while Temple is 25th. The highest ranked Group of Five conference champion will receive a bid to either the Chick-Fil-a Peach Bowl (Dec. 31) or the Fiesta Bowl (Jan. 1). Notre Dame, which handed Navy its only loss of the year, was ranked sixth.
Navy, 9-1 and 7-0 in the American, will travel to Houston (10-1, 6-1) on Friday to take on the Cougars for the American Athletic Conference West Division title. The winner of the Navy-Houston game will host either Temple or South Florida next Saturday at 12 noon in the American Championship game.
Kickoff on Friday is 12 noon (ET), 11:00 AM (CT) and the game will be televised to 100 percent of the country by ABC with Dave Flemming, Mack Brown and Allison Williams on the call. Navy is 9-1 for the first time since 1963 and the Mids have not started 10-1 since 1905.
