GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Navy men's basketball team (5-2) won its fifth straight game by posting a 71-65 win over Jacksonville (2-4) on Saturday afternoon at the Spartan Showcase. Navy has won back-to-back games in the Greensboro Coliseum and the Mids will wrap up the weekend against IPFW on Sunday at 12:30 PM.

The Mids had five players score in double figures and were paced by sophomore Jace Hogan's team-high 17 points and six rebounds. Hogan was 5-of-6 from the free throw line.

Senior Will Kelly scored in double figures for the fourth straight game, tallying 12 points with eight rebounds and six blocked shots. Sophomore Shawn Anderson added 12 points and four rebounds.

Senior point guard Tilman Dunbar scored 10 points and had five assists and junior Tim Abruzzo came off the bench to add 10 points.

Navy has won five straight games for the first time since the 2008-09 season and the Mids improve to 21-1 when scoring at least 70 points during the Ed DeChellis era. Navy has scored at least 70 points in four straight games.

"I'm proud of our guys," said head coach Ed DeChellis. "We've won five games in a row now and our guys are starting to believe and that's important to get some confidence. Jace Hogan and Tim Abruzzo both came off the bench and had really good nights for us. We made our free throws down the stretch again and that's how you win games."

Jacksonville's Darius Dawkins hit two 3-pointers to put the Dolphins ahead 27-23 late in the first half, but Navy responded with a 19-0 run that spanned both halves to race ahead by 15 points at 42-27.

Dunbar opened the run wit a jumper and then Anderson drilled a 3-pointer on a fast break to re-take the lead. The Mids kept extending the margin as Kelly scored inside, Dunbar drove for a layup and then the point guard found Anderson for a fastbreak layup. Anderson hit a 3-pointer at the end of Navy's shot clock with 20 seconds left in the first half. Dunbar hit a jumper to open the second half and then Knorr hit a 3-pointer.

Jacksonville was able to inch closer in the second half and got within six late at 62-56 with two minutes to go, but Hogan made a layup and then Dunbar knocked down two free throws to give Navy some breathing room.

Dawkins hit a jumper and Jacksonville began to foul, but Kelly made two free throws and then Hogan knocked down a pair to push the leas to 12 points with 30 seconds to go. Navy led by 11 in the final 15 seconds, but a late jumper and 3-pointer by the Dolphins cut the final margin to six points at 71-65.

Navy was 12-of-14 (86 percent) from the free throw line on Saturday and shot 45 percent from the floor (27-of-60). The team outrebounded Jacksonville, 40-29.

Dawkins made six 3-pointers to score a game-high 24 points and White added 10.

IPFW defeated UNCG on Saturday, 64-58. IPFW and Navy are both undefeated in Spartan Showcase play.
