2015 ECAC All-Star Team

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy men's soccer senior defender Derek Vogel has been named to the 2015 ECAC All-Star First Team, the Eastern College Athletic Conference recently announced.

Vogel was also named to the ECAC All-Star First Team in 2013 following his sophomore season.

Vogel continued his impressive haul of accolades for his senior season. He was recently named to the NSCAA All-Northeast Region Second Team and was named to the All-Patriot League First Team last month.

Vogel and Bucknell midfielder Chris Thorsheim were the only two Patriot League players to be named to the ECAC All-Star First Team.

Vogel was Navy's leading scorer in 2015 with 10 points on three goals and four assists. He missed three games due to an injury, but started all 15 games that he appeared in and logged 1,267 minutes. He also helped Navy post seven shutouts.

Vogel tallied a goal in Navy's tie with No. 23 Penn State and also scored in Navy's win over Ohio State. He also tallied the game-winning goal against Holy Cross.

Vogel will graduate from the Naval Academy ranked sixth in school history with 71 career games played and he is fourth in school history with 15 career assists.

Vogel was used as both a center back and a forward during his career.
