PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The 14th-ranked Navy squash (17-6) team dropped just its sixth match of the season, as No. 12 Drexel (6-8) defended its home court and dealt Navy a 7-2 loss. It was the Dragons' first win over the Mids in the six-match history.

A day after becoming just the 10th player during head coach Craig Dawson's 15-year tenure to reach 70 wins, senior Jim Kacergis (Malvern, Pa.) scored his third win of the weekend and the 71st of his career via a 3-1 win over junior Ibrahim Bakir. With the match tied at one win apiece, Kacergis won the final three points in game three to score an 11-8 win and with momentum on his side closed out the match in the fourth with an 11-6 victory.

Sophomore Will Walker (Scarborough, N.Y.) also finished the weekend with a flawless 3-0 after posting a 3-1 win against Drexel senior Sebastian Dangond. Like the Kacergis match, Walker and Dangond were knotted up after two games before Walker took the advantage in game three. That game was tied at eight and nine all, but Walker was able to win the third, 11-9, before securing the win in the fourth behind an 11-7 victory.

Navy dropped two five-game heart breakers, including the No. 6 spot where junior Bill Kacergis (Malvern, Pa.) jumped out to a 2-0 advantage over Drexel junior Mark Kauf. Kauf rallied to win games three (11-7) and four (11-8), setting up a fifth game. Kacergis held a 7-6 lead, but Kauf won five consecutive points to score the win.

Meanwhile, Drexel freshman Atticus Kelly won the first two matches at the No. 1 slot before Navy team captain Andrew McGuinness (Merion Station, Pa.) regrouped and won games three (11-7) and four (15-13) to push the match to a fifth game. Kelly, however, kept his composure and handed McGuinness an 11-4 loss in the final.

Three of the remaining five losses by the Mids were decided in four games, two of which Navy won the opening game.

Navy will play its final regular-season match of the season next Sunday when it welcomes ninth-ranked Franklin & Marshall to Annapolis for a 2:00 pm match. It will also be the final home match for the Mids' four seniors - Colin Barry (St. Louis, Mo.), John Hsu (Manhassett, N.Y.), Jim Kacergis and Andrew McGuinness.
