ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women's tennis team (5-3) fell to George Washington (3-1), 4-3, on Saturday afternoon at the Tose Family Tennis Center in the Brigade Sports Complex. George Washington snapped Navy's three-match winning streak.
George Washington opened the match by sweeping the doubles point, 3-0, to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
Navy freshman Amanda Keller evened the match at 1-1 by defeating Egel Jakuciunaite at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-2. GW's Teodora Radosavljevic and Grace Egger then won matches at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively, to put the visitors ahead, 3-1.
The Mids then rallied to win matches at No. 6 and No. 4 singles to even the match at 3-3. Sophomore Allie Pavlansky won at No. 6 singles over Allison Hansen, 6-1, 7-5 and junior Katie Porter won a three-set match at No. 4 singles over Taylor Nederlander, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3. Pavlansky won her fifth-straight singles match.
The match came down to No. 2 singles, where GW's Marie-Louise Decamps defeated Navy's Logan Antill, 6-3, 7-5, for the 4-3 team victory.
Navy will next host Howard on Tuesday at 2:30 PM.
