2015 Neville Kovacs Intercollegiate - Final Results GOODYEAR, Ariz. - The Navy men's golf team shot a 66-over par 930 to finish 17th at the three-day, 54-hole Neville Kovacs Intercollegiate played at the Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz.
The Mids combined for a 315 (+27) in Tuesday's final round, slipping from 15th to 17th in the final standings, in what was Navy's spring opener. Utah Valley claimed the team title with an 868 (+4), holding off both Utah and Gonzaga who placed second with an 874 (+10) and shot two of the lowest scores in the final round. DePaul placed fourth with an 875 (+11), while UMKC rounded out the top five with an 878 (+14).
Taking medalist honors was Arizona State's Broc Johnson who competed in the tournament as an individual and produced a 207 (-9). Obe Ayton of St. John's and Brayden Eriksen of Utah Valley finished five stroke behind in second place with a 212 (-4).
Senior team captain
August Jonas (Jacksonville, Fla.) was the Mids top finisher with an 11-over par 227. Jonas was slow out of the gates in Sunday's opening round where he shot a 9-over par 81, but bounced back to turn in a pair of 73s to place 51st.
Sophomore
Devin Terry (La Crosse, Wis.) finished 67th with a 231 (+15), while freshman
Connor Tallman (Lake Oswego, Ore.) placed 89th with a 238 (+22), freshman
Thomas Fricke (Haymarket, Va.) finished 90th with a 240 (+24) and senior
Bryce Keene (Bakersfield, Calif.) was 98th with a 242 (+26).
The Mids return to action on March 22 when they play in the Blue Devil Spring Shootout at the Duke University Golf Club in Durham, N.C.
