LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The Navy men's tennis team posted a 4-0 victory over Loyola Friday evening in a Patriot League Tournament quarterfinal round match in Lewisburg, Pa. The No. 2 Mids advance to a Saturday afternoon semifinal round contest against No. 3 Boston U.

"We played a good match," said Navy head coach Chris Garner. "Boston also played very well in its exciting 4-3 win over Lehigh. We are excited about the opportunity to play them tomorrow."

Navy (18-10) quickly won a pair of matches to earn the doubles point against the No. 7 Greyhounds (9-10). Blake Daniel (Sr., Overland Park, Kan.) and Calvin Mark (Sr., Union City, Calif.) combined for an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles over Reid Burch and Brett Shriver in the first match to be completed. Then an 8-3 win by Navy's No. 3 tandem of Tucker Massie (Fr., Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) and Walker Sims (Fr., Memphis, Tenn.) over Alex Castro and John Ferruzzi at No. 3 singles gave the Mids the doubles point.

Mark and Daniel continued their strong play in singles as the duo lost a combined nine games to record wins at the Nos. 1 and 3 flights, respectively, then a 6-2, 6-2 victory by Andrew Majkic (Fr., Jacksonville, Fla.) at No. 6 singles closed out play on the evening.

The Mids and the Terriers played a thriller of a match in the semifinal round of last year's tournament. Navy rallied from a 3-1 deficit to defeat Boston, 4-3, in a match that ended more than four hours after it began.

First serve for tomorrow's match is slated for 2 p.m.
