June 11, 2015 ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy assistant strength and conditioning coach
Joe Fondale won a gold medal at the 2015 Pan American Master's Weightlifting Championships in Savannah, Georgia this past weekend.
Fondale won the men's 35-year-old group in the 105 kilograms weight class. Fondale registered a top snatch of 113 kilograms and a top clean and jerk of 144 kilograms for a winning total score of 257 kg.
The Pan American Masters meet consists of competitors ages 35 and over from countries in both North and South America.
Fondale also won the gold medal at the 2013 Pan American Master's Weightlifting Championships in the 35-year-old group in the 94 kilograms weight class. Fondale improved on both of his lifts for the 2015 meet.
Fondale is in his sixth year as a strength and conditioning coach at the Naval Academy. He works with the men's basketball, men's track and field, women's soccer and men's and women's golf programs.
