NSCAA Northeast Region Poll | NSCAA Top 25 Poll

ANNAPOLIS, Md. â€" Senior defender Derek Vogel has been named the NAAA Athlete of the Week presented by Rolls-Royce for the week ending August 30. Vogel helped Navy get off to a 1-0-1 start to the 2015 season last weekend.

Additionally, in the season's first NSCAA Top 25 poll, Navy is the first team listed under 'also receiving votes' with 77 points. Penn State is ranked 25th with 91 points.

Navy is the top-ranked team in the NSCAA Northeast Region Poll. Fellow Patriot League members American (#2) and Boston U. (#3) round out the top three.

Vogel, Navy's team captain, was also named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week earlier this week for his play last weekend. It was Vogel's eighth career weekly conference honor.

Vogel played the full 90 minutes on the defensive backline to help Navy post a 1-0 win at West Virginia last Friday. Vogel also scored the game-tying goal in Navy's 1-1 draw at then-No. 23 Penn State on Sunday. Vogel tied the game in the 69th minute and played the full 110 minutes of the contest. The only goal Navy allowed in the first two games was on a penalty kick against Penn State.

Dating back to last season, Navy is unbeaten in its last 13 games at 8-0-5. Navy has the longest active unbeaten streak in Division I men's soccer.

Navy will next host Oakland on Friday at 7 PM at Glenn Warner Soccer Facility.
