HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Navy women's cross country team placed fifth at the Harry Lang Invitational on Saturday. Navy will look ahead to its home meet, the Salty Dog Invitational, on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 11 a.m.
"We did not score well today, finishing fifth," Navy head coach Karen Boyle said. "We have a lot of work to do in the next 10 weeks to reach all of our goals."
Junior Mary Cate Scully led the Mids with a 12th-place finish, crossing the tape at 17:50.8. After Scully, teammates Brenna McDannold (17:59.2) and Ali Valenti (18:00.2) finished within one second of one another for 18th and 19th place, respectively. Senior Meghan Harvey and freshman Maddy Marrone rounded out Navy's five scoring runners, finishing 23rd and 29th, respectively, with times of 18:07.9 and 18:14.8.
Freshman Erin McDonnell and senior Ashley Krulik placed 30th and 31st with times of 18:15.9 and 18:21.9.
Navy finished with 101 points for fifth place. Bucknell topped the field of eight teams with 52 points, edging out second-place Albany (53) by one point. Syracuse (66) and Buffalo (66) finished tied for third. Colgate (186), Utica (229) and Binghamton (244) rounded out the field.
