NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The 14th-ranked Navy squash team was unable to keep its winning streak alive this weekend, dropping a pair of matches against #15 Middlebury and #6 Yale. The Mids, who are now 17-8 this season, fell in a 5-4 heart-breaker against Middlebury Friday evening before losing to the host Bulldogs of Yale, 9-0, on Saturday.

"We played two really strong programs in our first two matches of the weekend," said Navy head coach Craig Dawson. "It was a dog fight with Middlebury and Yale is extremely tough to compete against on its home court. Tomorrow will be another tough test against Brown."

Sophomore Jack Herold (Chicago, Ill.) fought off Middlebury's top player, Andrew Jung, in five games to snap a two-match losing streak and earn his 17th win of the season. The Mids also got a strong performance out of rookie Senen Ubina (Greenwich, Conn.) at the No. 2 slot, who defeated Middlebury senior David Cromwell in straight sets, 11-7, 11-7, 11-9.

Navy freshman Dylan Sweeney (New York, N.Y.) came from behind in his match against junior Henry Pearson to score a 3-2 victory at No. 6. Sweeney and Ubina now lead the team with 18 wins apiece this season.

Scoring the Mids' final win of the day was another freshman, Jamie Kjorlien (Greenwich, Conn.), who posted a 3-1 victory against Middlebury sophomore William Kurth at the No. 8 position.

Juniors Reed Whitney (Ladue, Mo.) and Will Walker (Scarborough, N.Y.) held 2-1 leads in their respective matches, but were both edged in five games.

The Mids will close out the weekend in New Haven, Conn. on Sunday when they battle #16 Brown at 10:30 am.
