Setting the Stage • Navy and Memphis will meet on Saturday afternoon at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium (34,000) with first place on the line in the American Athletic Conference West Division. Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM and the presenting game day sponsor is AAFMAA.
• Navy and Memphis control their own destiny in the AAC West as they are two of the three teams that are still undefeated in conference play. The other team, USF, leads the AAC East and is Navy's opponent next week.
• Navy leads the all-time series against Memphis, 1-0, winning last year in Memphis, 45-20. This will be the Tigers' first trip to Annapolis.
• Navy is 21-4 over its last 25 games with three of the four losses coming against ranked opponents (Notre Dame at FedExField in 2014, at Notre Dame in 2015, at Houston in 2015 and at unranked Air Force in 2016). The Mids own wins over top 15 squads Memphis (2015) and Houston (2016) during that time period.
• The Mids are 10-1 (.909) in the AAC since joining the conference a year ago.
• Navy has won 13 straight home games dating back to the 2014 season. Its last home loss was to Western Kentucky, 36-27, on Sept. 27, 2014. The 13-game home winning streak ties the record for consecutive wins at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Navy won the first 13 games in the stadium's history, which opened in 1959.
• Navy's 13-game home winning streak is the third-longest streak in the country. Only Clemson (20) and Air Force (15) have longer streaks. Two of Navy's four losses over the last 25 games have come at Air Force and at Houston (fourth-longest streak).
• Navy's 13 consecutive home wins marks the longest winning streak at home since 1953-64 when the Mids won 21 straight. During that streak, Navy won the final eight games played at Thompson Field and the first 13 games played at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
• Senior wide receiver
Jamir Tillman has amassed 1,266 career receiving yards, which ranks third all-time at Navy. He is just 12 yards behind Phil McConkey for second and 470 yards behind record holder Rob Taylor.
• Navy, ranked #24 in the AP Poll and #25 in the Coaches Poll, is ranked in the top 25 in back-to-back years for the first time since 1978-79. The Mids finished last year ranked 18th in the country.
• Saturday's game will be televised nationally by CBS Sports Network with John Sadak, Randy Cross and Sheehan Stanwick-Burch on the call.
• The Navy Football Tailgate Show on WNAV 1430 AM / 99.9 FM will air at 1:30 PM.
• The Navy Football Magazine Show will start at 2:00 PM on WBAL (1090 AM) with Tim Murray hosting the show from the WBAL studio.
• The Navy Football Pregame Show with Pete Medhurst,
Omar Nelson, Joe Miller and Tim Murray will get underway at 2:30 PM, followed by game action beginning at 3:30 PM on the Navy Radio Network.

Game Day Festivities • Pregame festivities will get underway at approximately 1:00 PM with the Navy Football Team Walk. Originating at the Blue Angel in the southwest corner of the stadium, the team will make its way down the sidewalk and through NavyFest before walking up the drive to the stadium. Fans are encouraged to line up on both sides of the sidewalk to cheer for the team.
• The March-On of the Brigade of Midshipmen will be at 3:16 PM.
• A fly-over will take place at the conclusion of the national anthem at approximately 3:27 PM by VFA-11 "The Red Rippers" out of Naval Air Station Oceana.
• There will be a parachute jumper that will be jumping into Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium at 3:29 PM.
• At halftime, the 8th & I Marine Corps Silent Drill Team will perform followed by the Naval Academy Drum & Bugle Corps.
• Following the game, Navy's alma mater, Navy Blue & Gold, will be played as the team stands at attention in front of the Brigade of Midshipmen. It is one of the best traditions in all of sports.
Navy-East Carolina Postponed To Nov. 19 • The AAC game between East Carolina and Navy, originally scheduled to be played Oct. 13 at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium, has been rescheduled for Nov. 19 because of flooding associated with Hurricane Matthew.
• Both ECU and Navy had Nov. 19 as an open date on their schedules, making the logistics of moving the contest possible. Game time and TV coverage will be announced at a later date.
Scouting Memphis • Memphis enters Saturday's game with a 5-1 record and a 2-0 mark in the American Athletic Conference. Memphis and Navy are the only two teams in the West still unbeaten in conference play and one of three (USF) overall. The Tigers have defeated Southeast Missouri (35-17), Kansas (43-7), Bowling Green (77-3), Temple (34-27) and Tulane (24-14). Their only loss was on the road to Ole Miss, 48-28.
• Memphis leads the country in turnovers gained with 18 in six games. It has scored three defensive touchdowns this year, which is tied for the fifth most in the country. It has recovered seven fumbles (eighth most) and picked off 11 passes (fifth most). It is 10th in the nation in turnover margin (+1.17 per game).
• Quarterback Riley Ferguson has completed 129 of his 197 pass attempts for 1,596 yards with 12 touchdowns and six interceptions. His favorite target is Anthony Miller, who has 32 catches for 438 yards and two touchdowns.
• Doroland Dorceus lead the Memphis ground attack with 427 yards and five touchdowns on 59 attempts.
• The Pirates are averaging 515.3 yards per game which is the 14th-best average in the country.

Volunteer Navy • Navy has 17 players on its roster from Tennessee, which is tied with California as the second-most (Texas) represented state on the Navy roster.
• Key contributors on the roster from Tennessee include senior starting defensive end
Amos Mason (Nashville), junior starting outside linebacker
D.J. Palmore (Bartlett), freshman second team nose guard
Jackson Pittman (Antioch), junior backup center
Parker Wade (Nashville), sophomore starting safety
Sean Williams (Memphis) and sophomore starting offensive tackle
Andrew Wood (Mt. Juliet).
Home Field Advantage • Navy has won 13 straight home games dating back to the 2014 season. Navy's last home loss was to Western Kentucky, 36-27, on Sept.
During that era, Navy would play just one or two games a year at home, mostly against weaker competition, and played its premier home games in either Baltimore or Norfolk. During that streak, Navy won the final eight games played at Thompson Field and the first 13 games played at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
• Navy won a program-record seven games at home (7-0) in 2015.
• The Mids are 37-9 (.804) at home under head coach
Ken Niumatalolo, including 22-3 (.880) over the last five seasons.
Navy Named Football Writers Team Of The Week • Navy was named the National Team of the Week by the Football Writers Association of America following its 46-40 victory over Houston on Oct. 8. It is the fourth time Navy has been named team of the week since the inception of the award in 2002.
• The Mids were also honored in 2004 after knocking off Jay Cutler and the Vanderbilt Commodores at home, in 2007 after winning at Notre Dame and ending Navy's 43-game losing streak to the Irish and last year after knocking off No. 15 Memphis.
Navy Takes Home Honors After Houston Win • Senior quarterback
Will Worth, senior outside linebacker
Josiah Powell and sophomore kicker
Bennett Moehring were named American Athletic Conference Players of the Week after Navy's win over Houston. It was just the third time in league history that one school swept all three awards (Houston in 2013, UCF in 2014).
• Worth rushed for a career-high 115 yards and a touchdown on 32 carries against a unit that led the NCAA in rushing defense and threw two touchdown passes among his three completions, including a 17-yard TD to start the third quarter that gave Navy the lead for good.
• Worth was one of eight quarterbacks selected as finalists for the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback of the Week. He was joined by Washington's Jake Browning, USC's Sam Darnold, Tennessee's Joshua Dobbs, Washington State's Luke Falk, Alabama's Jalen Hurts, Texas A&M's Trevor Knight and Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield.
• Powell had two pivotal interceptions ÂÂ-- the first two of his career -- along with three tackles leading a defense that scored 17 points off of turnovers. His first interception allowed the Mids to close the first half with the tying field goal, and he returned his second pick 34 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter to give Navy a 34-20 lead.
• Moehring scored 14 points, making all three of his field goal attempts (24, 38, 40 yards, each a career long) and going 5-for-5 on PATs. His first two field goals tied the game in the first half, while his third came with 4:38 left in the fourth quarter and gave Navy a 46-33 lead.
•
Ken Niumatalolo was selected as The Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week, which honors the football coach whose program embodies the award's three pillars of scholarship, leadership and integrity, while also having success on the playing field during the previous week.
