Navy Football Up To 22nd In Both Polls

The Navy football team (5-1, 4-0 in the AAC) moved up from 24th  to 22nd in the Associated Press poll and from 25th to 22nd in the Amway Coaches Poll released this afternoon.  
 
The Mids received 251 voting polls in the AP poll, 77 points behind No. 21 North Carolina (6-2) and 44 points ahead of No. 23 Colorado (6-2).  Navy is one of three Group of Five teams ranked.  Boise State (7-0) is ranked 13th and Western Michigan (8-0) is 20th.  Houston, Troy, San Diego State and SMU are also receiving votes in the AP poll.
 
Navy received 243 voting points in the coaches poll, 109 points behind No. 21 Western Michigan and one point ahead of Colorado. Boise State (13th) and Houston (24th) iare also ranked in the coaches poll, while San Diego State, Troy, Middle Tennessee State, USF, Tulsa, Appalachian State and Wyoming are all receiving votes.
 
Navy will travel to Tampa on Friday night to take on USF (6-2, 3-1 in the AAC) in a 7 PM game that will be broadcast nationally on ESPN2 and the Navy Radio Network.
