Dec. 7, 2016 CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Navy women's cross country sophomore Erin McDonnell was placed on the Academic All-Patriot League squad, which was announced by the league office on Tuesday.
McDonnell has been impressive in the classroom she entered the Academy, owning a 3.84 grade-point average while majoring in oceanography. She has been named to the Superintendent's List once and to the Commandant's List in her first two semesters. McDonnell became the fifth different Mid in program history to be placed to the academic all-league squad.
McDonnell also had a strong campaign on the cross country course. The Traverse City, Michigan, native finished first in four meets among Navy runners, which included the Army-Navy Star Meet, Patriot League Championship and NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional. McDonnell finished runner-up at the Army-Navy meet, while placing 20th out of 109 runners and 54th out of 198 runners at the league championship and regional meet, respectively.
Navy concluded the 2016 campaign with a 13th-place finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals.
