LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The Navy women's golf team concluded the 2015-16 season by placing fifth of six teams at the Patriot League Championship at the par-70 Bucknell Golf Club on Sunday. Navy shot a three-round score of 942 (+102).
Navy lowered its score in each successive round of the tournament. After shooting a 317 and a 315 in the first 36 holes on Saturday, Navy fired a program-best 310 to close the tournament on Sunday.
"The team played well today and we shot four rounds in the 70s," said Navy head coach Nadia Ste-Marie. "The weather was good with just a light breeze today and the course played fair. We shot better in each successive round and the 310 is our best single round. We finished the season on a positive note."
Richmond became the fourth different school to win the Patriot League Women's Golf Championship in just the fourth season that the tournament has been contested.
The Spiders fired an overall score of 913 (+73) to earn a berth in the NCAA Regional. Boston University was second (919) and was followed by Lehigh (921), Bucknell (927), Navy (942) and Holy Cross (1,033).
Boston University senior Adela Cejnarova repeated as the individual medalist with a three-round score of 219 (72-75-72; +9).
Senior Renata Bucher was Navy's top finisher at the Patriot League Tournament for the third time in her four-year career. Bucher tied for 11th place with a three-round score of 234 (79-79-76; +24), the lowest of her career.
Sophomore Jane Moon tied for 16th place with a three-round score of 236 (82-76-78; +26) and sophomore Christine Walker was one shot back with a 237 (78-77-82; +27) to take 18th place.
Walker's season average of 80.4 is the lowest single season scoring average in program history.
Sophomore Kellyanne Hurst placed 23rd with a 242 (79-83-80; +32) and sophomore Legare Augenstein was one shot back in 24th place with a 243 (81-85-77; +33). Sophomore Mary Kate Nelson placed 28th with a 249 (86-84-79; +39).
Navy's 310 on Sunday consisted of Bucher's 76, a 77 from Augenstein, a 78 from Moon and a 79 from Nelson.
The 942 was Navy's lowest 54-hole tournament score in program history. And the third-lowest in program history in relation to par (+102).
