Sunday's Upcoming Schedule

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. - Three Navy heavyweight crew boats were in action at the IRA National Championship on Saturday in semifinal races. Looking to secure spots in Sunday's finals, the Mids' first and third varsity eight, as well as their varsity four crew competed on the 2,000-meter course on Mercer Lake versus national opposition.

After a stellar opening day race on Friday, Navy's first varsity eight crew finished fifth of six boats in semifinal number two with a time of 5:43.620. The Mids came in ahead of Stanford (5:48.640), but finished 2.25 seconds off the pace of Northeastern (5:41.370). Navy will close out its racing at the IRAs in the petite finals on Sunday at 7:00 a.m.

In third varsity eight action, Navy took fifth place in the first semifinal with a 5:57.250 result. The Mids finished ahead of Dartmouth, who came in a 6:03.430. Petite final racing on Sunday at 8:04 a.m. awaits Navy's third varsity eight crew.

The final crew to race on Saturday was the varsity four squad in the third semifinal. In a tight and competitive top-heavy heat, the Mids finished in second place at 6:41.960. The top-five teams in the third semifinal were separate by just 3.98 seconds with Navy trailing only Brown (6:40.760). The Mids held off the Red Foxes of Marist College and Cardinal of Stanford by less than two seconds. Navy's varsity four boat will race in third final action on Sunday at 9:56 a.m. to wrap up their stay at Mercer Lake.

Navy's three varsity eight boats, as well as its freshmen eight and varsity four crew will all race on Championship Sunday.
