Setting the Stage

• Navy and Fordham will meet for the second time overall and the first time since 1914 when they square off on Saturday afternoon at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium (34,000) in Annapolis. Kickoff is set for 12 noon with BB&T serving as the presenting game day sponsor.
• Season, mini-plan and single-game tickets are still available by calling the Navy ticket office at 1-800-US4-NAVY or logging on to navysports.com. Tickets for the Fordham game will also be available on the day of the game at the box office in the north end zone.
• Navy is 4-4 in season openers under Niumatalolo, including a 3-0 mark when opening up at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Navy's four opening-game losses under Niumatalolo have come at the hands of Ohio State twice (once in Columbus and once in Baltimore), Maryland (Baltimore) and Notre Dame (Dublin, Ireland).
• Navy enters Saturday's contest having won 10 straight home games. Its last loss at home was on Sept. 27, 2014, when the Mids lost to Western Kentucky, 36-27.
• Navy received 30 voting points in the Amway / USA Today Coaches Poll, which was the 30th-most points in the poll. The Mids received eight voting points in the initial Associated Press poll, which were the 38th-most points.
• This is the second consecutive year the Mids have opened the season against a team from the Patriot League, a league that Navy is a member of for most of its sports. Last year, Navy routed eventual league champion Colgate, 48-10.
• Niumatalolo is entering his ninth year at Navy, which ties him with George Welsh and Eddie Erdelatz as the longest tenured coaches at the Naval Academy.
• Saturday's game will be televised nationally by CBS Sports Network with John Sadak, Randy Cross and Sheehan Stanwick-Burch on the call.
• The Navy Football Tailgate Show on WNAV 1430 AM / 99.9 FM will air at 10:00 am.
• The Navy Football Pregame Show with Pete Medhurst, Omar Nelson, Joe Miller and Tim Murray will get underway at 11:00 am, followed by game action beginning at 12 noon on the Navy Radio Network.
• Following the contest, Medhurst, Nelson, Miller and Murray will recap the day's events in a 30-minute postgame show.

Game Day Festivities
• Pregame festivities will get underway at approximately 9:45 am with the Navy Football Team Walk. Originating at the Blue Angel in the southwest corner of the stadium, the team will make its way down the sidewalk and through NavyFest before walking up the drive to the stadium. Fans are encouraged to line up on both sides of the sidewalk to cheer for the team.
• The March-On of the Brigade of Midshipmen will take place at 11:41 am.
• A fly-over will take place at the conclusion of the national anthem at approximately 11:52 am. The fly-over will be from VAW-121 out of Norfolk, Va.
• There will be a parachute jumper that will be jumping into Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium with a game ball at 11:58 am.
• Between the first and second quarter, Patriot League Commissioner Jennifer Heppel will formally present the Patriot League Presidents' Cup to Superintendent Vice Adm. Ted Carter and Naval Academy Director of Athletics Chet Gladchuk. The Corvias Patriot League Presidents' Cup is awarded to the member institution with the highest cumulative sports point total for their Patriot League standings in sponsored men's and women's sports. Points are awarded based upon a combination of an institution's regular-season and tournament finishes in each sport.
• Navy won the cup on the strength of seven conference championships during the 2015-16 season. Navy has won the Patriot League Presidents' Cup three straight years and four of the last five years.
• Navy has dominated the rest of the Patriot League over the last five seasons, winning 36 conference titles, twice as many championships as any other team over that time frame. Boston U. is next with 17 conference titles, while Bucknell has won 15, Lehigh 12 and Army 11. Rounding out the five-year totals are Loyola and American (7), Colgate (6), Lafayette (5) and Holy Cross (1).
• Navy also placed first in the men's standings for the second straight year and for the fourth time overall.
• Following the game, Navy's alma mater, Navy Blue & Gold, will be played as the team stands at attention in front of the Brigade of Midshipmen. It is one of the best traditions in college sports.

Scouting Fordham
• Fordham returns 18 starters and 58 letterwinners from a squad that posted a 9-3 overall record and a 5-1 mark in the Patriot League a year ago.
• Fordham is led by FCS National Player of the Year candidates running back Chase Edmonds and quarterback Kevin Anderson.
• Anderson, who moved into the starting position last fall, completed 229 of 342 passes for 3,183 yards and 32 touchdowns. Anderson led the Patriot League and was third in NCAA FCS in passing touchdowns (32) and passing efficiency (170.2), while leading the Patriot League and was fifth in the NCAA FCS in completion percentage (67.0). Anderson's 32 touchdown passes marked the second-best single-season total in school history, as was his .670 completion percentage, while his 3,183 passing yards was fourth best. On the ground, Anderson rushed 158 times for 341 yards and one score, including setting a school record for quarterbacks with a 115-yard rushing game against Holy Cross.
• Edmonds, who finished fourth in the STATS FCS Offensive Player of the Year balloting last year, was named the 2016 Patriot League Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and a STATS NCAA FCS Preseason All-American, as well as a Football Gameplan FCS Preseason All-American. Edmonds rushed 251 times for 1,648 yards and 20 touchdowns, while also catching 31 passes for 383 yards and five scores in 2015. He led the Patriot League and was third in the NCAA FCS in rushing yards and led the league and was fourth in the NCAA FCS in rushing yards/game (137.3) and rushing touchdowns. Edmonds led the league and was fourth in the NCAA FCS in all-purpose yards/game (184.18) and was second in the nation in scoring (12.5 pts/gm). Against Lehigh on October 24, 2015, Edmonds set the Patriot League and school single-game rushing record with 347 yards on 31 carries with three touchdowns. He also caught two passes for 55 yards and a score in the game to bring his all-purpose yards total to 402, breaking his own Patriot League record of 385 all-purpose yards. Over his career, Edmonds has rushed for 3,486 yards and 43 touchdowns, both second best on the Fordham career lists.
• Junior Niko Thorpe is Fordham's top returning defensive player. Thorpe recorded 78 tackles and 9.5 tackles for a loss, an interception and a fumble record last year. Senior George Dawson had 65 tackles and nine tackles for a loss last year for the Rams.

Navy In Season Openers
• Navy is 4-4 in season openers under Niumatalolo, including a 3-0 mark when opening up at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The Mids' four opening-game losses under Niumatalolo have come at the hands of Ohio State twice (once in Columbus and once in Baltimore), Maryland (Baltimore) and Notre Dame (Dublin, Ireland).

Home Field Advantage
• Navy has won 10 straight home games dating back to last year. The Mids are 34-9 (.791) at home under head coach Ken Niumatalolo, including 19-3 (.864) over the last four seasons.
• Navy won a program-record seven games at home (7-0) in 2015.
• Navy's 10 consecutive home wins marks the longest winning streak at home since the Mids won 10 straight from Sept. 20, 1980 to Sept.11, 1982.
• A win on Saturday would give the Mids the longest home winning streak since 1953-64 when the Mids won 21-straight. During that era, Navy would play just one or two games a year at home, mostly against weaker competition, and played its premier home games in either Baltimore or Norfolk.

America's Team
• Navy has players who hail from 31 different states on its roster, the most in program history. Texas leads the way with 25 players, while Tennessee and California have both produced 17 Midshipmen. North Carolina has 14 players on the roster, while both Florida (13) and Georgia (12) are also in double digits

New York State Of Mind
• Navy has three players from the state of New York: sophomore quarterback Brandon Coleman (Yonkers), sophomore fullback Mike Martin (Pine Bush) and junior slot back James Munson (New York City).
