ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy men's cross country senior Lucas Stalnaker (Tega Cay, S.C.) stormed past the finish line to capture his second-straight individual title to help guide Navy to a first-place finish at the Navy Invitational on Saturday at the United States Naval Academy Golf Course.

Stalnaker, who won in 2015 by a full 12 seconds, won his second consecutive individual title by five seconds, crossing the finish line at 25:25.32.

Stalnaker's classmates Ryan Speir, Ryan McCoy and Mitchell Pratt all finished within eight seconds of the Tega Cay, South Carolina, native to record second, third and fourth place. Speir improved on his time from last year, finishing with a mark of 25:30.82, which was 22 seconds faster. McCoy and Pratt followed with times of 25:21.26 and 25:33.54, respectively.

Junior Cory Donley rounded Navy's five scoring runners, placing fifth with a time of 25:36.68, which was a one-second improvement from 2015.

"Times mean nothing and ordinal position means nothing, because runners dissipate the heat differently," Navy head coach Al Cantello spoke about today's results and the heat that they ran in.

Navy recorded a perfect score of 15 points as it captured the first five places in the meet. As a team, the Mids had all seven of their potential runners record the top seven places in the meet. George Washington placed second with 61 points and tallying two of the top 10 finishers. UMBC rounded out the top three with 64 points and one runner in the top 10. Loyola (131) and McDaniel (137) completed the field of five as Bowie State did not record a finisher.

Navy will travel to the Cappy Anderson Invitational, hosted by UMES, on Saturday, Sept. 17.
