Patriot League Release

CENTRAL VALLEY, Pa. - Navy seniors Mac Burke and Brock Dudley have been named to the 2017 Preseason All-Patriot League Men's Soccer Team, the league office announced Wednesday.

Burke was Navy's starting goalkeeper last season and led the Patriot League in goals-against average at 1.05. He also had four shutouts and a .762 save percentage. Burke played 1,713 minutes last season, setting a Navy single-season record for most minutes played by a goalkeeper.

Burke posted a season-high 10 saves in Navy's 1-1 draw with Furman last season. The 10 saves were the most by a Navy goalkeeper since 2011.

Dudley, Navy's team captain, was named to the All-Patriot League Second Team in both 2015 and 2016. The midfielder started all 18 games for Navy last season and played in every minute of every game.

Dudley has played in all of Navy's 56 games over the last three seasons and he is Navy's active leader with 4,418 career minutes played. He has scored five career points on one goal and three assists and has helped Navy post 20 shutouts over the last three seasons.

The Patriot League also released the 2017 Preseason Poll on Wednesday, which was voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information contacts. Loyola was picked as the league favorite and was followed by Colgate, American, Boston University, Army West Point, Bucknell, Lehigh, Navy, Lafayette and Holy Cross.

Navy was 5-9-4 overall last season and 1-6-2 in the Patriot League. The Mids return nine starters from last year's team and have added 10 freshmen. Head coach Tim O'Donohue enters his second season at Navy in 2017.

Navy will open the 2017 season at Manhattan on Friday at 7:00 PM. Navy's home opener will be against NJIT on Monday, August 28 at 7:00 PM.
