Navy Football Back In The Top 25

Mids ranked 24th in both polls

ANNAPOLIS, Md.--After a one week hiatus, the Navy Football team (8-2) is back in the Top 25 thanks to a 35-28 victory over No. 21 SMU on Saturday.  The Mids are ranked 24th in both the Associated Press and Coaches Polls.  Navy has been ranked in the Top 25 in three of the last four weeks and the three Top 25 appearances are the most since 2016 when the Mids were ranked four times.

Navy will travel to Houston on Saturday to take on the Cougars in a 7:00 PM game that will be televised nationally on ESPN2. With a win, the Mids will gain at least a share of the American Athletic Conference West Division title for the third time since joining the league in 2015 (shared with Houston in 2015, won it outright in 2016).  Navy needs a win and a Memphis loss to Cincinnati on Friday afternoon to advance to the AAC Championship game on Saturday, Dec. 7 where the Mids would play at East Champion Cincinnati.

Cincinnati is ranked 18th in the Associated Press poll and 17th in the coaches poll, while Memphis is ranked 17th in the Associated Press poll and 18th in the coaches poll.
