CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Navy offshore sailing team started its spring schedule with a victory at the Southern Collegiate Offshore Regatta, hosted by College of Charleston this past weekend.

Navy's crew was captained by
George Davis who managed the tactics. Along with Davis, the Midshipmen had
Matthew Signorelli trim the main,
Cassidy O'Brien trim the spinnaker,
Viktor Turner work the mast,
Sean Caraher on the helm,
Anirudh Murali trim the jib,
Zachary Krause on the bow and
Grace Vandegrift work the pit.

Over the two-day regatta on Saturday and Sunday, there was a wide range of conditions that were featured on the Charleston Harbor.

The Midshipmen started the event strong after winning the first two races on Saturday. Navy then finished second, third and fourth over the final three races to finish out the first day of competition. Entering the race on Sunday, the Midshipmen trailed the College of Charleston by three points. Navy came out strong once again on Sunday winning both of the races on the final day of competition in decisive fashion to overtake the College of Charleston and win the regatta.

Navy now has the next two weekends off from competition before traveling to Los Angeles for the LA Harbor Cup from March 8-10.
